Documentation
Current development: 1.9.2 (leading to v2.0).
Based on the work conducted with the OGSA-DAI team, and in preparation for the new system in development with the Biobank team, the previous VOTES architecture is being re-factored (maintaining the same functionality). The main feature is the drawing together of the joining abilities of single database, distributed database and web-service resources.
Latest stable version of application: 1.5.8
Latest Features:
- Federation with a consent database indicating whether the patient has consented for their data to be used or not. If consent is indicated as given, the data is returned as part of the federated query. However, the yes/no handle is also presented which will allow future interfaces to be developed that could run statistics over this information (i.e. what percentage of this target query indicated that they would not consent for data use? How many gave limited consent? etc.)
- Integration with database situated at Imperial College London. This database provides information on a study of diabetes as part of the GPRD data-set (General Practice Research Database). Queries federated across the Scottish auxiliary databases and this one can now be run. The database is implemented in MySQL which complements the data sources already available in the current test-bed.
Features from last stable version (1.5.4):
- An administrative portal is now in operation that allows users to maintain local and remote resources within the VO, and for trial administrators to create, set databases and set security policies on new trials.
- Security on the portal has been tightened, due to this new ability to update the CVO database through the portal.
This section provides documentation to support the VOTES portal.
